ZHANG Ling's Lao Zhang's R & B Band
08-08-22

ZHANG Ling, a veteran musician who has undergone more than 20 years of ups and downs of Chinese pop music, is hailed by his counterparts as one of the most outstanding Chinese bassists. While all looked at him as a first-line professional musician who frequently appeared in the spotlight of various stages and in almost all of the studios in Beijing, few people know the fact that ZHANG Ling is also a passionate singer with an unrestrained voice. His singing is unbridled yet gentle as well as rough yet delicate, with the profound essence of the Blues & Jazz. He is a real singer singing with the heart.

Lao Zhang's R & B Band was formed in 2007, with several well-known old and new musicians carefully selected by ZHANG Ling. JIN Hao(percussionist) has been a partner with ZHANG for years in Rhythm Dogs Band; JIA Yi (guitarist), graduated from the MIDI Music School, has now grown into a dazzling star of the most professional new generation musicians; ZHU Aijun, a veteran guitarist, who have experienced the ups and downs of China's rock n' roll, continues to go on his Road to Rock with his love of music; LIU Wei (drummer and keyboard player) and ZANG Feifei, the current musician and the core figure of Jungle Cat, who integrate a novel color into the classic rock, have become a group of new rock forces; keyboard player ZHANG Zhang (Xiao Pang), the youngest member in the band, has become the backbone of the music forces within such a few years, bringing the band a broader musical style.

Lao Zhang's R & B Band takes Rhythm & Blues as the main tone with even much toughness of rock and rhythm of funk. In 2007, the band joined the Lijiang Snow Mountain Music Festival in Yunnan province. ZHANG Ling's album 'Women's Song' has recently been produced and issued by the Universal Music, the promotion of band performance will also be carried out soon.

ZHANG Ling and Lao Zhang's R & B Band are trying to use new sounds to interpret classical music, telling the ancient Eastern legends through Western music language.
